Romans 12: 1-2 The Message

1-2 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: God never asks us to do something without giving us the motivation and ability to do it – His Holy Spirit within us empowers us.

Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.
Notice – place it before God as an offering. This is something we must choose to do. But first we need to understand the perception --- my whole life – my cleaning, cooking, talking to friends, working , how I treat my husband and friends --everything; not just my going to church, reading the Word and praying – my WHOLE life is to be an offering to God.

Worship is more than what we do on Sunday in church…its what we do moment by moment – how we choose to spend our time. Think about how we spend our time – does it honor God or are we wasting time on empty pursuits, entertainment, etc?

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Accept who God has made you to be and be true to it – be who God made you as unto the Lord. Embrace the talents, gifts and abilities and use them in worship unto God. Use them in your everyday life as a tool of worship – a way to honor and bring praise to God. You like to cook? Cook as unto the Lord and let it bring Him glory – as people are blessed by your offering. Whatever your abilities and interests – no matter how simple – use them as unto God.

Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Unfortunately, our culture has become a part of the fabric of our lives. It's like a second nature that needs to die. What others are doing or saying should grieve our spirit – bring us an ache inside. If not, we’re fitting in too well. It doesn’t mean that we ignore people and don’t rub shoulders with them. It means we influence them by our holy life – the fruit of the Spirit coming through.

Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out.
As we focus our attention on God – being mindful of Him, praising Him along the way, shooting phrases of praise or prayer to him, consciously aware of His presence in our life; we are changed from the inside out. As we pursue His Word and Presence – the Holy Spirit transforms us. It’s a work He does as we make ourselves available to God.

Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it Be quick to obey – do what the Holy Spirit has prompted in your spirit. Quick to turn from evil – get it out of your life. Quick to respond to God – think about him, memorize His Word – quick to do whatever He tells you. The enemy quickly distracts us and snatches the Word from our minds before it can get planted in our hearts. But when we act on the Word repeatedly it becomes a part of our hearts – implanted in us and second nature. This takes some time and effort – surrender and yielding to the Holy Spirit.

Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. God brings the best out of you – isn’t that what we want? Isn’t that what will glorify and please the Lord – His best being brought out of us? Well-formed maturity is God’s will for us – we just have to go after it girls. We’ve got what it takes – the Holy Spirit living inside of us. We’ve got all the power we need – we just have to surrender and choose life instead of death.

Choose to place your everyday life before God as worship moment by moment. Feel free to share some of those moments with us in the comment section below.
