God bless Edna Gooden!!!

Today we celebrated Calvary Assembly of God's 53rd Anniversary of minsitry in the Dover/Kent County area. To think that it was a woman who started the church in her kitchen with a few people and now the church is over 1500 while in a city of 35,000. I doubt very seriously that Edna ever imagined the magnitude of responsibility she held in her heart when she said "yes" to God and to the dream He placed in her. She was pregnant with possibilities and the possibility of a church had been fluttering in her for a long time. Then it began to kick and she couldn't ignore the call to birth a church. I wonder what would have happened if Edna had been concerned about how clean her house was or that the people might track in dirt and mud. I wonder what would have happened if she had let her insecurities get the best of her. Where we would be today? I wonder if she doubted God's call at times or her ability to fulfill it. She's one of my heros. She listened to the desire placed inside of her and went against all the obstacles and doubts and opened her heart and home to Dover. As a result thousands of lives have been saved, marriages restored, teenagers pulled from destruction, children set on the foundation of truth, lives turned around through deliverance and transformation. That's a pretty good dividend for her investment of time, energy, prayer, and obedience. What desire is fluttering within you? What dream is kicking to get out? What would God birth in you? No matter how small or insignificant it may seem, open your heart to its call . Push through the fear, let go of all excuses, replace the doubt with faith and just go for it. God's call will not lead you where His grace cannot keep you. Be an Edna Gooden.

Angela, Yes, God Bless Edna Gooden---what an amazing story and journey! Although a small step in breaking out of the different types of fear that hold us back from God and from others, this is my first "blog experience". :>) God Bless + Lisa

I also enjoyed Dennis J.'s message yesterday, and his ability to play the piano and sing so passionately at the same time is miraculous in itself!

I am enjoying the Calvary Network for Women. Thank you for devoting your time and energy into this new birthing experience for all of us!

Thank you Lisa. I enjoy writing the posts and keeping in contact with you ladies. I'm believing God to do something special through this connection. I know I'm obeying His lead and that's what counts. Just taking one step at a time as He reveals it to allow him to birth His will and purposes in my life. I'm believing and trusting that the possibilities of God are being birhed in all of us.

Angela,

Good morning! I was truly blessed by the concert Sunday evening. One specific song that Dennis sang was like the Holy Spirit was speaking directly to me and I am desperate to find the name of that song so that I may hear it again and again it was so healing.

During the service he asked those several groups of people to stand I stood up during the 3rd group I remember hearing him say something about people who have felt abandoned or rejected during their life, I am adopted and always have felt like I was not good enough and that I was a burden on my birth mother and the family who adopted me. The song he sang just spoke to my soul and I cried but it was a healing cry, a release.
I purchased the cd “Mercy me” that had his most recent songs and a lot of the songs he sang on Sunday Night but not that one special song. Would you happen to know the name of the song I am in need of? Thank you so much!

About the concert,
I looked forward to Dennis' concert for so long and I wasn't disappointed. It was a "healing service". I loved the song "You are My Destiny" - it was a corporate experience that was powerful. We were singing together like we were singing a school song in which we were bonding as a unit- difficult to explain. But I know I valued the experience. I was declaring who I was in Christ as I sang that song and I was declaring to Satan that He was a liar and had fooled me all those years to believe I was different and ashamed.

Dianne,
You are right on with "This is my Destiny.' We sing that song in the Uniquely His Workshop and it's a powerful experience to proclaim who you are in Christ in song with others. It is a spiritually bonding experience also. Praise God you were able to sing it with conviction. Thanks for sharing.
